The Zone FPV Controller Compatibility Fix (MacOS)

Not a long time ago, I was enjoying ripping some quads in THE ZONE fpv simulator on my MacBook Pro (M4Pro). The Simulator worked as charming as it was, and I was really taking advantage of calibrating my RATES as it's hyper-realistic and makes for that mainly.

But because I am a beta tester for MacOS, I have updated to the new MacOS 27.0, but BETA version - this was before the official 27.0 release. It was a coincidence probably, or maybe not, but haven't flown in the zone for like 2 weeks at that time (goes back to July 2026). little did I knew that was the last time of practicing in this FPV simulator for the summer.

Basically, what happened, for no known reasons, all my controllers became fully incompatible with THE ZONE, alongside several other FPV simulators. Something must have happened behind the development of the OS as neither my RM Boxer nor the DJI FPV controllers and what I have at hand weren’t recognised in the zone anymore.

Whilst the fix was not instant and time passed, I just kept enjoying summer and life in general, flying my tiny whoops outdoors and practising in other FPV Simulators.

The ZONE FPV - Fixing the FPV controller not being recognised.

Recently, I have uninstalled THE ZONE and installed it again. This setting was new and probably hidden. In Steam, I got a new pop-up with "Play with controller compatibility mode". And yes, it was confirmed that THE ZONE released a patch fix on the 19th of September 2026.

This was all I needed for the fix. The controller was recognised automatically and I calibrated it once more into the simulator

There are no issues anymore. However, I tried it without the compatibility mode and was not recognised. Therefore, if you have this issue make sure you select the option displayed above when you start THE ZONE simulator.

In case you don't have it - then RIGHT CLICK to THE ZONE on STEAM and go to PROPERTIES. You are on GENERAL and at LAUNCH OPTIONS, select the "play with the controller compatibility mode". Please see the screenshot below:

Maybe I wouldn't need to reinstall THE ZONE but it just happened at the same time. So that's why, in case it is not recognised for yours, see in THE ZONE settings from Steam.
